JACKSON, MI — Thomas Rooney calls the food at Jackson’s 308 Brass Rail Bar & Grill “bar food done well.”
Rooney has owned the bar and grill with his wife, Nicole, for four years.
The Reuben, chicken quesadillas, fish tacos, chicken sandwiches and salads are among the most popular menu items, Rooney said. Burgers are also popular, and the eatery won best burger in Jackson’s K105.3 radio station burger competition in 2020.
“Our menu is just a wide variety of classic bar items from appetizers to salads,” Rooney said. “It’s just a classic bar with good food but we cook it right.”
The bar still does about 50 percent of its food business as take out or Door Dash, Rooney said, adding that 70 percent of the total sales is food.
“People who have switched to take out are still doing it,” Rooney said. “They will never come back.”
Live music is a staple at the Brass Rail every Friday and Saturday night. Comedy on Wednesday nights also happens a couple of times each month. Open Euchre is every Monday at 6:30 p.m. Trivia night is Tuesday at 7 p.m.
